WATERVILLE VALLEY SOLD
October 10th 2010 16:05
The last New Hampshire ski area owned by Booth Creek Holdings,
Inc., Waterville Valley, has been sold to former U.S. Senator
John Sununu and family.
Booth Creek Holdings, Inc., once a powerful ski area chain
in the Granite State, sold their three ski area one by one over
the years. First Loon Mountain, then Cranmore, and now their last
bastion in New Hampshire is gone, gone to a political family.
Waterville Valley has flipped a number of times since founder
Tommy Cororon got in over his financial head with the building
of the Town Square project. The notorious, now defunct, American
Skiing Company ran the place for awhile until George Gillette's
Booth Creek Holdings, Inc picked up the property in the mid
'90s.
The good news is: Waterville Valley is a turnkey operation, never
falling into a state of dire disrepair, so it's ready to operate this
season.
