SUGARLOAF CHAIR OF HORRORS GONE

May 13th 2011 13:43
In the aftermath of a horrible chairlift derailment that injured
seven riders last December, Maine's Sugarloaf Mountain Resort
has removed the 1975 Borvig Spillway East chairlift.

Sugarloaf management is currently in the process of removing
the chair of horrors', sister chairlift Spillway West as west.

In their places, a new US$3 million, conveyor-loaded, fixed-grip
quad chairlift will rise up the mountain this summer. A conveyor-
loaded chairlift is one which passengers ski onto a moving
conveyor belt which transports them a few meters to the chairlift

loading area.

Supposedly, the conveyor-loading mechanism idiot-proofs the loading
process by dragging the hapless clowns, who can't seem to get their
act together at the critical moment of chair loading time, to the
chair itself. Then, all the clowns have to do is to remember to
SIT DOWN at the right time.
