SNOW BLANKETS NORTHEAST U.S. & QUEBEC
December 9th 2009 17:13
Since sunrise Wednesday morning, steady snow
has been falling throughout ski country in the northeastern
United States and Quebec. Over a foot is expected
in the Adirondack, Green, Laurentian and White Mountains.
Although the snow is presently coming down hard, it's of the light,
powdery variety, almost Utahesque in quality. Although it's a prime
powder day to get out and rip up the mountain, driving conditions
are hazardous and are predicted to remain so until Thursday morning.
Most major northeastern U.S. ski areas are open for the season
including, Gore, Whiteface, Killington, Okemo, Mount Snow, Stratton,
Stowe, Jay, Bretton Woods, Cannon, Mount Sunapee, Waterville Valley,
Mount Tremblant.
As the week progresses more ski areas are planning to open. This
weekend promises to be a good one for both alpine and XC skiing.
