SKI AREA OWNER RUN OVER BY SNOW GROOMER MACHINE
December 6th 2011 17:04
In a tragic set of circumstances, central Maine's Eaton Mountain
ski area owner David Beers was run over by his own snow-
grooming machine this week. While Beers attempted to fix the
tank-like tracks on the 18,000 pound machine, it slipped into
gear, charging over him.
Fortunately, an assistant was able to summon immediate medical
assistance. Beers is currently recovering from a broken jaw
and a dislocated ankle in the hospital.
This hard-working small ski owner is lucky to be alive. Ski
grooming-machines are unforgiving while operating on their own
volition.
Eaton Mountain is one of those last remaining, mom & pop
owned, small ski area operations. One where the family members
do just about everything to keep the place running.
If you find yourself in the Skowhegan, Maine area--not too
far from Sugarloaf Mountain--stop by to wish the Beers family
well.
