SAVE WITH ALTA'S CARD
September 12th 2010 11:48
For those planning to ski Utah's Alta this season, a good way
to save a few bucks on lift tickets is to sign up for the
mountain's free "Alta Card."
The RFID--an electronically read lift ticket--is reloadable online.
Card holders can reload lift tickets at US$64 per day, a savings
of five dollars. It's also a convenient way to skip waiting in line
at the ticket window.
As the years go on, watch for more mountains to offer RFID
lift ticket cards. The cards have an electronic chip embedded
in them and are read as the card holder goes through a lift
loading area. The beauty of them is: they can be kept inside
a pocket and do not have to be displayed on one's parka.
The cards also have the ability to track a skier's lift usage
during the day so one can go online and check their vertical
feet skied.
