NOVA SCOTIA'S NEW SKI NAZIS
December 9th 2011 17:25
Here's one for the ski history books. Seems the elected
officials of Canada's Nova Scotia Province have decreed,
in their great wisdom, that wearing helmets will be mandatory
while skiing or riding their massive high peaks.
Yup, you read that right. The new Nanny Nova Scotia
provincial law goes into effect next season and includes
everyone, from kids to senior citizens.
The new law also calls for "special" Naziesque officers
to detain and apprehend those brazen skiers or riders who
choose not to wear a helmet at the province's four little
ski areas.
If you're found skiing or riding in Nova Scotia next season
without donning a helmet, you will be detained, booked and
fined C$250.00. Sounds like a good reason to go out of province
to ski and ride.
Doesn't Nova Scotia have more important laws to try to
enforce than skiing and riding helmet laws? Problems like
these arise when knee-jerk reactionary politicians, who do
not understand the freedoms inherent within the skiing and
riding community, pass decrees which mimic Nazi laws
of the 1940s.
First they came for Nova Scotia skiers and riders, but the law
didn't affect me, so I did nothing. Then they came for New Jersey
skiers and riders and still, I did nothing. Then they came for me
in my country. By that time it was too late.................
