NEW HAMPSHIRE BUSY THIS SUMMER
In New Hampshire, ski areas are busy hammering, sawing,
digging and pouring concrete this summer in preparation for
the rapidly approaching winter season.
Among the most notable projects are Great Glen Trails' new
Glen House ski-in/ski-out hotel 80-room hotel with indoor pool
currently in the construction stage.
Further south, Gunstock has added a new quad chairlift and
two new trails for novice level skiers and riders. The
snowmaking capacity is expected to double this winter with
the addition of 4.5 miles of new pipeline, 13 new tower fan guns
and the retrofit of 25 existing tower guns.
Pat's Peak has parted with a cool half million dollars this summer.
The cash was spent on: new snowguns and pipelines, expanding
the children's learning program lodge, doubling the size of the racing
lodge, cutting new glade skiing lines, new rental equipment and
last but not least, adding 50 new parking spaces to help on busy
days.
Mighty Cannon Mountain is busy clearing brush on the adjacent
"lost ski area" Mittersill's forgotten trails. Skiers and riders can access
the Mittersill trail network from the summit of Cannon and return
on snow, when conditions permit. Both base lodges currently have
carpenters hammering and sawing away, adding more useable space.
