NEW OWNERS FOR WILDCAT MOUNTAIN

October 22nd 2010 14:31
If the U.S. Forest Service approves the pending deal, New Hampshire's
Wildcat Mountain will be in the hands of a ski company chain operation.
Pat Franchi and family, the current owners of Wildcat have plans to
sell the operation to Peak Resorts, the owners of 12 ski areas.

Peak Resorts collection of ski areas are primarily day-tripper areas
stretching from Paoli Peaks in Indiana, down to Missouri, through
Pennsylvania and southern Vermont, over to Crotched Mountain,
New Hampshire and up to Attitash in the North Conway area.

Is this ski area chain stretching their resources to thin? History

has proven that the majority of ski area chains were forced to
liquidate or transfer their holdings over the years---S.K.I, American
Skiing Company, the Muellers, Charlie Locke and the list goes on.

In Peak Resort's favor is their expertise and commitment to
snowmaking in marginal weather conditions. They are big on
fan snowmaking gun technology.

To make a go of it at Wildcat--a peak where real estate development
is verbotten--depends on heavy lift ticket, over-priced burgers, beer
and lessons sales.
