NEW CHAIRLIFT FOR VISTA RIDGE
October 12th 2011 15:43
A new quad chairlift is up and just about ready to go
for the kickoff of the ski and ride season. The new
Leitner Poma lift comes with three new trails, more
snowmaking and a roof added to the outdoor ice
skating rink.
Modest sized Vista Ridge opened in 1996. Designed to
handle about 35,000 customer visits per season, last
year the 410-ft vert area dealt with 63,000 skiers, riders
and snowtubers from the Fort McMurray, Alberta area.
With a mere five trails, a tubing run and a skating ridge,
Vista Ridge does not compete with the destination
resorts of the Canadian Rockies but it certainly does fill
the void for affordable quality winter recreation in this area
of Alberta.
In light of ever escalating ripoff gasoline and airline fares,
smaller ski areas have the opportunity to attract more
business through strategic pricing, programing and savvy
marketing.
