NEW BACKCOUNTRY TOURS AT RED MOUNTAIN
December 15th 2010 12:38
Running with the current off-piste skiing and snowboarding trend,
British Columbia's Red Mountain is opening up 300 acres of
terrain and offering guided tours into the backcountry.
The now legally open backcountry is located on Grey Mountain,
accessible through lift-accessed gate on Granite Mountain. Grey
Mountain offers descents of 2,200 consistent vertical drop
with a pleasant southern exposure.
Guided one-day and overnight guided backcountry tours can be
reserved through the Red Mountain Snow Sports School. Over
night guests stay in a heated yurt dubbed "The Alpine Glory."
All skiers and riders accessing Red Mountain's backcountry
areas are required to carry avalanche transceivers, probes
and shovels.
