MT HUTT ACCESS ROAD BOMBED
September 8th 2010 15:46
New Zealand's Mount Hutt ski area's access road was bombed
recently---no worries, it was carried out by friendly fire. After last
Saturday's earthquake, extensive precaution measures had to be
done to insure the mountain was safe to reopen.
Crews bombed the access road in attempt to dislodge any rocks
which may have been dislodged by the recent rumblings. The
maintenance guys also went over the lift system with a fine tooth
comb, searching for any structural damage.
On the mountain, ski patrollers carefully checked over the trail
network and snowpack to be sure everything was safe for skiers
and riders to enjoy.
Down below, all the buildings, gas lines and even the snowmaking
reservoir received a thorough going over before reopening.
On a lighter not: Supermodel, just returning from a UK recording
gig will rock the mountain on Sunday at noon.
