LOON MOUNTAIN ADDS TREE SKIING
July 26th 2010 13:24
New Hampshire's Loon Mountain has been busy pruning trees
this summer. When the snow flies this December, 20 acres
of new tree skiing will be ready to go!
To insure more terrain is open throughout the season, Loon
is installing a whopping 428 new HKD tower snow guns this
summer. Total snowmaking improvements add up to
US$1.2 million invested in the operation.
Uphill loading wise, 35 new chairs have been added to the
North Peak Chairlift to keep lift waits to a minimum in this
popular section of the mountain,
On the Seven Brothers Chairlift, a moving loading carpet
has been installed to speed the loading process and cut down
on misloads. Misloads are caused by hapless customers
who aren't paying attention and fall behind during the short
chairlift loading window of opportunity.
Last but not least, Loon has added a Beast grooming
machine to keep their terrain parks in good shape.
