LIBERTY U OPENS SKI SLOPE
September 17th 2009 14:04
Liberty University in central Virginia has opened the nation's
first Snowflex covered ski area. Snowflex is a multi-layer
synthetic material that simulates the effects of sliding on
snow.
Otherwise known as "dry slopes," synthetic material
ski centers are popular in the United Kingdom. They
offer beginning skiers and snowboarders an opportunity
to learn the basics on a year-round, low cost basis.
Of course, they are not as exciting as "real" snow-covered
ski areas, but they are a great venue for training.
Liberty Mountain Snowflex Center is open seven days
and evenings per week. It sports two runs, an 11-foot
high quarterpipe, a tabletop, kickers, rails and a tubing
chute.
Rates for the general public vary between US$5 and $7
per hour. Rentals are also available.
