LANDSLIDE ON WHITEFACE!

June 9th 2011 17:02
After all the recent heavy rainfalls in New York's Adirondacks,
part of Whiteface Mountain fell victim to a landslide. The steep
rock-laden area of an area locally knows as "Slide Three" gave
way creating a downhill cascade of rock and debris.

Ski area officials say that Slide Three--a backcountry, expert only
skiing and riding area--has been widened by the landslide.

However, there is a hefty debris field at the bottom of Slide Three
to contend with this winter. It's unclear at this point how this
landslide will affect the skiing experience in the Slide Three

area this winter.

It's going to take a heaping-helping of natural snow to open this
bad boy!
