HOLIDAY VALLEY SPENDS $4 MILLION
August 25th 2010 14:22
Western New York State's most popular ski area, Holiday
Valley has dropped another $4 million this summer on a
new quad chairlift, snowmaking pipes, new trails and
enlarging a warming hut.
The new Morning Star high-speed quad is longer and of
course, faster than the lift it replaces. Ride time is cut
about in half. This will cut the dreaded "hang time"
on freezing cold days and nights.
The new lift will also spin at night. In fact, the lift line directly
beneath the Morning Star will be lit up for skiing and riding.
Bear Cub, a new 2,500-ft novice-intermediate trail has been
cut to the skiers' right off the Snow Pine Lift. The new Gobbler's
Glade begins off the Woodpecker trail and finishes up at
Fiddler's Elbow.
Higher capacity snowmaking water pipelines have been installed
on the Champagne and Independence trails. Last, but not least,
snow tubers will be enjoying an expanded warming hut with game
room this season.
