GET IN SKI SHAPE: WIFE CARRY
October 7th 2010 20:02
It's that time of year to get in shape for skiing and riding.
And what better way then to enter Sunday River Resort's
11th Annual Wife Carrying Competition this Saturday?
It's a grueling race where mountain men throw their wives
over their backs and race for the gold over a 278-yard course.
There's uphill running involved, log hurdles to contend with
and the ever-popular, 10-meter long waist-deep water
obstacle for real men to carry their women to victory
through.
The winning couple earns the right to compete in the
World Wife Carrying Championship in Finland next
July.
Entry fee is US$45 per couple (male and female team,
married or not). Race start is at Sunday River, Maine's
South Ridge Base Lodge on Saturday morning, October 9.
It's a good time spectators' event as well.
