EASTERN U.S. SKI SEASON UNDERWAY
October 14th 2009 21:14
Maine's Sunday River Resort opened with advanced skiing and riding
off the Locke Mountain Triple chairlift--the first ski area to open in
eastern North America for the 2009-10 season!
The ski area plans to operate through the end of the weekend--
weather permitting, of course--with lift tickets priced at $US25.
Next week, Sunday River management plans to shut the lifts
down and concentrate on making snow. Then they hope to reopen
after laying down a durable base of machine-made snow.
It's much to early in the season to expect anything other than a
light, teaser, dusting of natural snow, but as the calendar turns
to November, who knows?
