CRANMORE MOUNTAIN SOLD
June 17th 2010 13:31
In the trading properties game, common among ski resort
related corporations, a small ski area in New Hampshire has
changed hands.
Cranmore Mountain Resort, in the sales tax-free shopping mecca
of North Conway, has been sold by Booth Creek Resorts
to a consortium of Jiminy Peak ski area operators and the REIT,
CNL Lifestyle Properties, LLC.
CNL Lifestyle Properties LLC, the big bucks behind the deal,
is a Real Estate Investment Trust with interests in 119
lifestyle and recreational properties. The company typically
acquires a resort properties and then leases it to proven
successful operators.
The Jiminy Peak group has plans to remake Cranmore
Mountain into, well, a kiddie amusement park by building
more rides for summer visitors and focusing more on children's
programs during the winter months.
Meanwhile Booth Creek Resorts is slowly disappearing from the
New Hampshire ski scene. Once the owner-operators of three
White Mountains ski areas, they are now down to one: Waterville
Valley.
