CANADA'S SKI CROSS MERGES WITH ALPINE TEAM
July 12th 2010 14:37
Due in part to the rousing success of Canada's Ski Cross
team in this year's Winter Olympic Games, the team has
become part of Alpine Canada Alpin (ACA). As part of
the ACA--the governing body of Canada's alpine racing
and para-alpine ski team--the ski cross team will benefit
from shared use of training facilities, technical expertise
and other economies of scale.
It makes sense because many of the ski cross team
members come from a solid alpine racing core background.
Now in its infancy, world-class ski cross racing--a discipline
which combines the skills of alpine racing with the thrills
of motocross and spills of roller derby events--is poised for
rapid growth.
Last February, Canadian Ashleigh McIvor became the first
ever Women's Ski Cross Olympic Champion.
