Skier visits in the Canadian west were down last season
due in part to the staging of the Winter Olympics in
the Vancouver region.
Canada West Ski Areas Association President Jimmie
Spencer says, "the economic situation affected visitors
from overseas and the strong Canadian dollar discouraged
visitors from the United States. Also I believe the 2010

viewed attendance at the Games as a once in a lifetime
opportunity and chose that instead of spending their regular
10-14 days skiing and snowboarding at their choice of resorts
across the West."
