ACTION AT OKEMO MOUNTAIN
December 8th 2010 23:39
Vermont's Okemo Mountain is staging a "What-I-Leaned-
this-Summer Rail Jam" on Saturday, December 18 at
11 a.m. It's an opportunity for contestants to showcase
the skiing and riding tricks they have been working on all
summer long, during dryland and pool ramp training sessions.
Entry fee is a modest US$20 with a US$200 prize for the
best trick performed during the jam.
The next day, Sunday December 19 is the mountain's annual
"Cares and Shares Food Drive." Anyone who donates either
three non-perishable food items, a new child's toy or new clothing
item gets a lift ticket for the discounted price of US$35.
Over the years, this food drive has helped out many struggling
families in the Black River Valley of Vermont area. Okemo
chips in by donating a centurion flock of frozen turkeys for
Christmas dinners.
Last night, central Vermont got hit with seven inches of fresh
powder and snow guns at Okemo and Killington are blasting away.
More terrain is opening daily.
