It is with great regret that we announce the passing of one of the
original founders of Colorado's legendary A-Basin, Max Dercum.
In 1946, Dercum, his wife and fellow founders brought A-Basin
to recreational skiers.
In the 1970s, Dercum--not done yet--helped found Keystone ski
resort, also in Colorado. Anyone try to found a ski resort today
in the USA? Good luck boys and girls.
The Colorado Ski Hall of Fame elected Max to its hallowed roles
in 2003. He lived to 98 years of age, just a few days shy of his
99th birthday!
A job well done Max.....generations of A-Basin and Keystone
skiers and riders thank you for your vision and hard work.
