9/11 ALYESKA CLIMBATHON

September 9th 2010 15:21
If you're looking for a challenging, healthy activity on September
eleventh, Alaska's Alyeska ski resort is running their third annual
North Face Vertical Challenge Climbathon.

It's designed as a scenic endurance event. Competitors walk,
hike or run up the North Face Trail and then return to the
base via the tramway. The idea is to accomplish as many
roundtrips as possible between nine in the morning to seven in
the evening.

Each trip up is over 2,000 vertical feet. In last year's event,
top competitors logged over 20,000 vertical feet!

Of course, one can simply take their time, enjoy the scenery and

ride the tram back down once, twice or go for the max.

Registration is a modest US$20 in advance or US$30 the day
of the race. This event is hosted by the Alaska Mountain
Runners Club
