FREE SKIING AT HAYSTACK MOUNTAIN

January 27th 2012 11:53
Free lift tickets baby at southern Vermont's recently reopened
Haystack Mountain on Saturday, January 28. No gimmicks.
Just show up and ski and ride.

Not enough? They are also throwing in free tubing, ice skating,
live tunes, food and fireworks after dark.

Why are they doing this? Well, the mothballed Haystack Mountain
is currently going through another rebirth as a "private club" and
they hope to sell you an expensive membership and perhaps
a building lot to build your dream McMansion--as a second home,
of course.

Meanwhile, the skiing and festivities are free for all

SUPER SUNDAY NH LIFT DEALS

January 25th 2012 23:02
During America's Super Bowl Sunday craze, this year
on February fifth, football fans are thinking about how
they can get to their TV sets on time for the 18:00 hour
Eastern Standard Time kickoff.

Sure, it's one of the most watched broadcasts but there is
still time to enjoy your Sunday before the game begins.

With that in mind, the marketing gurus at New Hampshire
ski areas have slashed their lift ticket prices on Super
Sunday. Here are a few examples:

ATTITASH: US$46
CANNON MOUNTAIN: 2 tickets for US$68
KING PINE: Morning only tickets US$22

RAGGED MOUNTAIN: Two tickets for one.
WATERVILLE VALLEY: US$46; twelve bucks for juniors.
WILDCAT MOUNTAIN: US$46.

Enjoy the big game between the Giants and Patriots but
please don't forget to exercise first. The slopes await
your presence for the pre-game show.

FREESTYLE SKIER IN COMA

January 20th 2012 00:08
It is with great regret that we report: one of the finest
freestyle skiers in the sport is suffering through a serious
brain injury incurred during a practice session in Utah.

Sarah Burke, a four time Winter X Games champion and
a poster gal in many popular print ski publications, landed
the hard way during training. Sarah is currently receiving
excellent medical care.

Lest us never forget, skiing and snowboarding are wicked
dangerous activities--perhaps that's what attracts us to it?
At the competitive level, there is only a extremely fine edge
between victory and injury.

To win one must push the envelope of uncertainty, approach
the void of the unknown, as Sarah Burke did when she became
the first woman to successfully perform 1080s (a triple revolution
while airborne on skis in the lateral plane.)

All of us at Skiing Reviews are hoping and praying for Sarah's
full recovery.
