STRATTON'S EXPEnsIVE FRee
July 21st 2011 21:44
Well you know, during the hot blazing days of no-snow,
North American summer season, ski areas try all kinds
of things to attract people to their cash registers---alpine
slides, circuses, mountain biking, golf, scenic chairlift
rides---the list goes on & on.
Oh yes, lest us not forget "free concerts." While this is all
well and good---typical ski area thinking is: " Yeah, we'll hire
the band, not charge admission but make our bucks on
BBQ and brew sales. Fine.
However, when a ski area under the control of the current
bleeding Intrawest corporate regime advertises a free
concert schedule line-up and then, sticks in a caveat,
"yeah, US$34.50 for tickets," well then it's not free.
Southern Vermont's Stratton Mountain--part of the going-
downhill-fast--Intrawest family of ski areas--has done just
that with their August 13th "Soulive concert.
We don't know, how does US$34.50 per ticket equate to
a so called "free summer concert summer series," as Stratton
terms it.
Perhaps the corporate treasurers of Intrawest Corporation can
shed some light on this quagmire?
