three boxes and two rails.

NEW STRAWBERRY FOR SUNSHINE VILLAGE

September 28th 2010 15:20
Alberta's Sunshine Village replaced it's antique Strawberry
Hall-built triple chairlift with a slightly used, Doppelmayr
quad chair. The lift was used briefly during the 2010
Winter Olympics, then taken down, packed up and shipped
to the resort.

The other major new development here is the extensive
renovations at the Creekside building, the former gondola
building.

Besides the stunning new exterior facade, the Creekside
building's restaurant has almost doubled in size and the
various shops have been moved around to better serve
their customers.

Sunshine Village, in the heart of Banff National Park, is
shooting for a November 11 opening.

Meanwhile, down the road, Marmot Basin got hit will
10 centimeters of snow on September 20!

DUTCH INDOOR WORLD CUP RACE

September 24th 2010 14:31
When one thinks of Holland, visions of flat endless tulip fields,
windmills and below sea level dikes come to mind. Then how
can the Dutch stage an FIS World Cup Snowboard Race?

Well, what they do have to offer is the world's largest indoor
ski facility, complete with five slopes, eight lifts--including
a six-pack chairlift--a terrain park, snowmaking, bars, restaurants
and a hotel!

On October 10, SnowWorld in Landgraaft will stage the 8th LG
Snowboard FIS World Cup Parallel Slalom. Over 90 racers
from 19 countries are expected to compete in the event.

Doors for spectators open at 9 a.m. for the qualification rounds,
followed by the main event at 1 p.m. Admission for spectators
is free and includes access to the "Grand After Party" featuring
the band Network and a chance to mingle with the athletes.
