Skiing Reviews - January 2010

TWO LIVES SAVED AT SILVER STAR

January 31st 2010 12:27
Two lives were recently saved at western Canada's Silver
Star Resort within two hours of each other. The first
critical incident involved a resort hotel guest who was
experiencing shortness of breath and light headed symptoms.

When the ski patrol arrived at the scene the ill guest went
into cardiac arrest. Fortunately, the Sliver Star Ski Patrol
has a well trained staff and advance life support equipment,
and a volunteer ski doctor who saved the victim's life.

Two hours later, a second emergency call came in to dispatch
from a guest lodged in a resort condominium. Both the ski patrol

and the Silver Star Fire Department responded.

Once at the scene, trained responders administered not one, but
two defibrillator generated electric shocks and CPR. Due to their
fast response time, the two teams saved this victim's life as well.

For skiers and riders with cardiac conditions, it seems Silver Star
is an excellent resort choice, just in case...............

KIIDS SKI FREE IN CANADA

January 28th 2010 22:16
Canadian students currently enrolled in 4th or 5th grade classes
have the opportunity to ski or snowboard for free this season.
To encourage children of that age to at least try skiing and riding,
ski areas across Canada are giving away three free lift tickets
to each eligible student with no strings attached.

Parents can enroll their children by visiting any Sport Mart,
Sport Chek, Sports Expert or Intersport Store free of charge
by filling out an application and providing proof of their
children's ages.

Or perhaps an easier way is to visit: www.snowpass.ca

to enroll.

The three free lift ticket vouchers the child receives will also
include additional coupons for substantial discounts on
rental equipment and lessons.

One may ask: "Why are ski areas willing to give my kid free
tickets?"

The answer is: the ski areas hope your child will enjoy skiing
or snowboarding throughout their lives. When they become
adults they will probably bring their children to ski or ride
as well, thereby generating a revenue stream for the entire
ski industry as a whole.
