COLORADO SKI TRAIN DERAILED

December 30th 2009 22:24
After 70 years of operation, the Denver to Winter Park ski train has
been derailed by the operators, Iowa Pacific Holdings after it failed
to reach a feasible operational agreement for 2010.

Iowa Pacific has stated that AMTRAK--the quasi mismanaged
government entity that supplies the train crews for the ski train--
has doubled their insurance rates for 2010. AMTRAK also claims
that Iowa Pacific's passenger cars are not up to their standards.

So, as it stands today, the Winter Park ski train is done. If you
are holding tickets for the Denver to Winter Park run this season,

get your refund as soon as possible.

FREE LUNCH WITH THAT LIFT TICKET

December 27th 2009 22:51
In attempt to ease the pain of paying for a US$72 midweek lift
ticket, Vermont's Okemo Mountain is appealing to skiers
and riders rumbling stomachs.

From January 4 through the 15th, Okemo will throw in a
US$20 lunch voucher for those purchasing a lift ticket
midweek. The voucher is valid at any on mountain eatery.

Yeah, twenty bucks for lunch--basically a hamburger, fries
and a large Pepsi--is nice, but why not just reduce the weight
of the all ready hefty lift ticket tariff?

Don't know about you, but I'd rather pay twenty less for my
ticket and skip lunch.

KILLINGTON'S LEARNER'S PERMIT DEAL

December 24th 2009 22:22
Vermont's Killington Resort, the largest ski area in eastern North
America, has launched a great deal for those interested in learning
to ski or snowboard this season. Here's how it works:

On the first day, you'll be asked to part with US$130 in exchange
for all rental equipment, a beginner's area (Snowshed lifts) lift
ticket and a two and one half hour lesson.

If you decide you'd like to continue your studies in the skiing
and snowboarding arts, you'll have the option of "upgrading"
your one day purchase to a three day experience for an
additional $69.

For your additional $69, not only will you receive two more
days of Killington lessons, equipment rentals and lift tickets
(an all mountain ticket on your third day worth $82 alone)
but.... and get this:

The resort will throw in three full days of all-mountain lift tickets
and equipment rentals at their nearby Pico Mountain ski area.

The best part is: none of your ski or snowboard days have
to be consecutive. Your "Learner's Permit" bar coded pass
is valid throughout the entire 2009-10 season!

Basically, you could do one day at a time, return home and
come back whenever you choose.

An extreme bargain indeed considering you receive six days
of rental equipment, lift tickets and three lessons for only
US$199.
