Skiing Reviews - August 2009

NEW TURNS IN SKI INSTRUCTION

August 31st 2009 13:32
Video taping as a ski instructional tool has been around for decades but
Sugarbush in Vermont is taking it a step further this season.

After a student's ski lesson is all said and done for the day,
student's will still have access to their ski instructor online.
Instructors plan to post video recordings of their students'
lessons on a private account website with a move-by-move
commentary, similar to televised football games' instant
replay device.

Students can ask their instructors questions online by web cam.
Discussions will revolve about how technique can be improved.

It's kinda nice after a ski trip is over to be able to relive your lesson
experience online, back at the office.

BEST SKI SEASON PASS DEAL

August 27th 2009 12:24
BEST SKI SEASON PASS DEAL

What would you be willing to pay for an unlimited season pass valid
at six world-class U.S. ski resorts? US$1,800? US$2,000?

How does a mere US$599 for an unrestricted season pass valid
every day of the ski season at Arapahoe Basin, Beaver Creek,
Breckenridge, Heavenly, Keystone and get this....Vail sound to you?

What's the catch you may ask? None, no restrictions, no hoops
to jump through, no b.s. Simply go to: Epicpass.com and purchase
online and you're set for the season.

Vail Resorts Management Company, the outfit that runs all these

resorts is even throwing in six discount lift ticket vouchers for
your friends and and one year subscription to Ski magazine as
part of their Epic Pass deal.

Now, if they can only come up with an airline season pass so we can
travel to all these great resorts, at a reasonable price, so we can use
our season pass, then that's the real deal indeed.

MT BACHELOR'S NEW TICKET PRICING

August 25th 2009 12:49
MT BACHELOR'S NEW TICKET PRICING

In Oregon, Mt. Bachelor has come up with flexible, new lift ticket
pricing structures for this coming season.

First off, their daily lift ticket rates purchased at the ticket window
will vary from a low of $49 to the full monty price of $69 depending
upon the weather conditions du jour. If the weather's great it's
$69, if the winds are howling and it's white-out conditions, expect
to pay $49.

For someone who expects to ski or ride for any non-holiday
12 days, including weekends, the mountain is offering a
"12-Day Pass" for $399, payable before September 30.

The math works out to only $33.25 per day. A great rate
for someone who won't ski or ride enough to justify
purchasing a season pass.

Then there's their "Club Card." After parting with $29 up front,
card holders can then "load" their card with pre-paid $49
non-holiday lift tickets and $59 holiday tickets. The card is
non-transferable but it does offer the convenience of direct
lift access.

Last but not least, children 18 and under ski and ride free with
any adult who purchases a three day or more lift ticket. This
product is a good deal for vacationing families staying in the
Bend. Oregon area.

BUY A MAGIC MOUNTAIN

BUY A MAGIC MOUNTAIN

What happens when a struggling mid-sized New England SKI area constantly loses money every season? Well, usually one of four things could happen. In the best case scenario the current owners could sell it to a corporation with deeper pockets and the expertise to turn the place around. Or, they can take down the lifts and sell them along with other expensive specialized equipment to other ski areas and sell the land for alternative commercial or residential uses
